ABOUT

Our Organization

The Tahquitz Community was founded in 1925 to promote and provide a volunteer staff for Camp Tahquitz. Fifteen Scout Honor Campers gathered at the new mountain camp in December 1925 and made the decision to form the organization we know today. Over the last 100 years, over 6,500 Scouts and Scouters have been selected for membership, including young men and young women.

The Tahquitz community continues to staff Camp Tahquitz every summer, inviting those that demonstrate the ideals of scouting to join their organization.

Outside the summer camp season, the Tahquitz Community offers a year-round schedule of events and activities for its members to connect, grow, and serve the Long Beach Area Council, Scouting America.

Our Mission

The Tahquitz Community, the Honor Camping society of Camp Tahquitz, promotes the ideals of Scouting by supporting and encouraging Scout camping and outdoor activities, providing service to Camp Tahquitz, the Long Beach Area Council, the community and its diverse cultures, and by fostering the principles and practice of youth leadership.
